Passion Sunday at St Edward’s

Next Sunday, Passion Sunday, will begin at St Edward’s with the usual 8.00 am service of Holy Communion.

The 11.00 am service will be a special service for Passion Sunday, with readings and choral music for Passiontide (poems from Clive Sansom, music from Johan Saunders and Bob Chilcott). Fraser will preach, on costly crises that contain the seeds of recovery.

The 5.00 pm Eucharist will also be a healing service, at which Malcolm Guite will preach, on the link between passivity and the Passion. It will be his first Sunday sermon since his absence.

(Note that the preachers have swapped over from those announced in the March newsletter.)

There will be no more Taizé services on Mondays until next term.

On Tuesday at 5.30 pm Malcolm will give the third of three talks on Prayer and the Arts, focusing this week on music and song.

On Wednesday at 8.00 pm there will be On The Edge at which Malcolm will talk about ‘A Celtic Cross, exploring the meaning of the cross and passion through the music of ‘Celtic’ bands; U2, The Waterboys, Runrig, and The Hothouse Flowers.

On Thursday at 12.30 pm there will be prayers for reconciliation and healing, led by Matt Russell.

On Friday, as usual, there will be Holy Communion at 10.30 am with Alan Cole; and meditation at 5.30 with Fraser.

On Saturday (23rd), at 11.30 am there will be a first meeting of a pastoral support group, led by Fraser (for those interested in giving or receiving pastoral support). Also on Saturday, the eve of Holy Week, there will be a Contemplative Eucharist at 5.00 pm, with mush silence.
