the week at st edward’s

Next Sunday, July 21st, is am important day in the life of St Edward’s. We have an interesting Odyssey service at 11.00 am, and at the 5.00 Eucharist will be saying goodbye to Matt & Michele Russell.

The day begins with a Prayer Book communion service at 8.00 am at which Alan Cole will be the celebrant.

The preacher at Odyssey at 11.00 am is Neil Thorogood, URC minister, artist, and Director of Pastoral Studies at Westminster College. He will be talking about ‘Being human and made in God’s image’, and will illustrate his talk with the sculptures of Ron Mueck, which faithfully reproduce the minute detail of the human body, but play with scale to produce disconcertingly jarring visual images.

At the 5.00 pm Eucharist, Matt Russell will preach on being lost and found in community. After the service there will be refreshments (a light buffet) and social time in the Munro Room at Queens’ College, when we will have a chance to say goodbye to Matt & Michele. Members of the morning congregation are welcome to join us at Queens’ regardless of whether they have been at the evening service.

On Wednesday at 8.00 pm there will be On The Edge, at which Malcolm will talk on Psychedelic Pill: Spirituality & Psychedelia, with the Grateful Dead, Neil Young and Jefferson Airplane.

On Thursday at 12.30 pm there will be lunchtime prayers, led by Ann Kember. On Friday at 12.30 pm there will be a Prayer Book communion at 10.30 with Fraser as celebrant; and at 5.30 pm Fraser will be lead the meditation group. This (July 26) will be the last meditation until the group resumes on August 30.
